Happy trans day of remembrance, fam. It’s been a journey- rocky, beautiful, heartbreaking, exuberant, complex and full- I would and could live it no other way. I am so grateful for the love that surrounds me, and everyone who cares to SEE.

❤️📣😁WE ARE ENGAGED! Yesterday, on our way home to Philadelphia, after a lovely weekend of friends and art and family, I proposed! The timing was surprising, but right. My fiancé, Joy, is a healer, a shining light- someone deeply cherished by those in her life. Her spiritual companionship has transformed me. We’ve had so much fun together I’ve our eight years- from San Francisco to Pittsburgh, to Rehoboth Beach, Asheville, New York, and now, Philadelphia. Special shout out to my shop tech buds for helping me learn to make a ring, set a gem, dye velvet, harvest logs (Osage orange here) and transform it into a fine little box to store this moment for us. Feeling full and joyous. I love you, Joy Santos!!!!

Friends! The second issue of TREE NEWS is OUT 🚨 at www.treenews.info ! Tree News is a collaborative artist newsletter run by and yours truly. The newsletter is focused on tree and forest stories as entry points into conversations about climate change adaptation, ecological orientations in artist practices, and environmental justice. This issue is focused on a forest regeneration project located in Pittsburgh’s South Side Park, a former site of industry and mining that was left to the city as a barren hillside in 1930. Today, it is a site of regenerative forestry and ecological experimentation. We got ourselves through the covid winter of 2021 helping out, swinging pickaxes and chatting away on a slippery Pittsburgh hillside, and co-authored an article for this issue about our experience and research. The essay integrates interviews and archival images from urban goat herders, mushroom foragers, city foresters, resident organizers, and more. Tree News is available in print and online. We recently began a subscription/mailing service for the (small-run) print edition of the newsletter. Re-emerging from social media hibernation to share that I have new works on view through June 19 at the Brewhouse in Pittsburgh. This body of work, “Amnesia with Vista,” Is a series of mixed media paintings that explore a contradiction projection in perpetuity in white settler myths and social constructions of the “American”landscape. The works reframe colonial land maps and historical documentation of industrial clearcutting found in the archives of my hometown long side references to contemporary natural gas development in the work of the Hudson river school painter, Thomas Cole. These works were originally intended for my thesis exhibition last year, which was cancelled- I am very excited to finally have the opportunity to share them!

What a s**t show last night. Explosive anxiety is thick in all directions. Four things are helping me to stay sane and healthy amidst this rigorous, lonely chaos. 1) organizing 2) making art 3) sending and receiving love, often across distance - little tid bits from my extended fam (conceptualized queerly) 3) attention, intention, study & cultivating relationships with the plants and animals I share the space and place with ——-> This lil guy, scurious, is a recent highlight 🐿🥰
