Pittsburgh Film Office The Pittsburgh Film Office is a nonprofit economic development agency promoting southwestern Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh Film Office markets the greater southwestern Pennsylvania region as a great location for movie, television, and commercial productions. Since its inception in 1990, the PFO has assisted more than 135 feature films and television productions to southwestern Pennsylvania to generate an economic impact of more $1 billion for the region. To facilitate filming in the Pittsburgh area, the

PFO provides information on the region, locations, vendors, and crew; and coordinates government and business offices in support of a production. It also serves as a conduit for information, providing assistance to local filmmakers and the local film industry throughout the region.

Last Saturday, local film industry professionals Buster Pile and Gregg Edwards were chosen to throw the first pitch at the Pittsburgh Pirates game against the Chicago Cubs!

The game honored the Pittsburgh region film and television industry, noting professionals like Buster and Gregg are what make film in the region possible. It also highlighted THE PITT through the official Dr. Robby bobblehead, handed out to the first 20,000 guests!

Create PA's Electric Department (Film & TV) Training introduces participants to set electrics, power distribution, and lighting for film and television productions. This hands-on training is designed for individuals interested in joining the film industry or expanding their skills. No prior film experience required—transferable skills from related fields (construction, stage work, trades, etc.) are welcome.

Applicants must be within 50 miles of downtown Pittsburgh.

Applications close August 10th, 2026.

Thank you to Rep. Emily Kinkead for hosting a roundtable discussion today with the PA House Democratic Policy Committee!

The roundtable focused on the positive economic impact of film tax credits, a discussion of what an expansion and modernization of the program would mean for the state, and if policy changes are needed to compete with neighboring states like New Jersey.

The Pittsburgh Film Office and IATSE Local 489 Studio Mechanics gave a tour of our mini-museum window displays at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street and walked around downtown to waypoints featured in Pittsburgh Film Trails.
