My Lent art project was to reimagine the classic crucifix for Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church. The main difference between this and the more traditional style is that Jesus is not dead, but dying. The point is to emphasize that Christ is with us in suffering.

The cross is about three feet tall, and can be mounted on a pole for processions. The body is basswood (Linden), and the cross is made of wenge and red oak.

I just completed this large (30×40") oil potrait of ELCA bishop Ralph Jones.
Bp. Jones will be retiring at the end of August.
The portrait will hang in the Passavant Auditorium at Thiel College, a Lutheran college in Greenville, PA.
So...
