Originally opened as a vaudeville theater in 1905, the Rex Theater has been a fixture on Pittsburgh's Southside for over a century. Over the last decade, the Rex has found a place as a live concert venue with full service bar. The venue can host standing room only events(587 capacity), fully seated events(300 capacity), or a mix of both seated and standing events . The venue is currently used as a live concert venue, but also hosts a variety of free movie nights, independent film screenings, plays, comedy shows, burlesque and belly dance shows, dance parties, private events, weddings and wedding receptions, and private parties. The venue is available to rent including full concert sound and lighting systems, seating for up to 300, box office staff, security staff, highly trained sound engineers and lighting designers, production managers, and event coordinators. To obtain a rental quote or to inquire about venue availability, please contact our talent buyer at [email protected]. PARKING There is on street parking available on Carson Street and the side streets to the north (towards the river), as well as public parking lots at the corner of 18th Street and Carson, 18th Street and Sidney, and on Carson Street between 19th and 20th Streets.
WARNING: There is NO PARKING on E. Carson Street from 10th Street up to 17th Street every Friday and Saturday from 10:00pm until 4:00am. They will ticket($100) your car and then tow($170) your car if you are parked on E. Carson Street during this time period.
We know, this sucks, but in their infinite wisdom, this was the decision of the City of Pittsburgh's Safety Council. Please direct all complaints to them. We just don't want to see you getting your car towed for no good reason.
If you aren't driving in from out of town, please do yourself and everyone else a favor, take Uber, Lyft, or zTrip to and from the show. Be smart and get home safe.
