Randy's Alternative Music Randy's Alternative Music began life as a record store in 1993. I started releasing CDs under the name in 1994. Let’s make some new musical memories!

I’m still releasing and promoting music that touches my heart here in the 21st century.

One of my (many) favorite albums, It’ll End In Tears, by This Mortal Coil, was released by 4AD on this day, October 1st, in 1984. I bought the LP about a month in to my freshman year at Duquesne University. Those were magical times!

I couldn’t let the day pass without mentioning that one of my (many!) favorite albums was released on this day, September 11th, in 1981; Rage In Eden by Ultravox. The cover art was designed by the legendary Peter Saville.

Midge Ure said this about the album: "I think 'Rage in Eden' was always one of my favourite albums. There's a starkness about it, an austre, mystical distance, a coldness to it but a coldness that kind of works.”

Oh, it works, Midge!

The sun shines high above
The sounds of laughter
The birds swoop down upon
The crosses of old grey churches
We say that we're in love
While secretly wishing for rain
Sipping Coke and playing games
September's here again

This is exceptionally cool! A professionally filmed, early U2 concert I’d never seen until today. It captures the magic of why I cherished the band so very much in the early 80’s. ❤️

Released on this day, June 16th, in 1986. A little under two months later The Smiths played here in Pittsburgh and blew away the audience with their incredible performance. It was an amazing, life changing experience for me. ❤️
