Receiving is different from achieving. It asks very little of us except our attention.

Stop scrolling and take a moment of reflection for yourself.

Our calendars are full. Our weekends are spoken for. We are checking off adventures, celebrations, and responsibilities. Life is filled with good things. And still, something can feel absent.

Where did all the pennies go? Less than a year ago, the U.S. government officially stopped producing new circulating pennies, ending a 232-year run. The decision came after manufacturing costs soared to $3.69 cents for a single one-cent coin.

Inspired by the penny’s changing place in history, visionary designer Brian D. Thompson transformed this everyday object into high fashion. In 2023, he created “It Just Make Cents. It’s Time For Change,” a custom couture gown crafted entirely from pennies and presented on the Ecolution Fashion Gala runway.

This one-of-a-kind piece is modeled by London Pipkins and Joanna Wentling.
