MISSION STATEMENT:
The primary mission of the Pittsburgh Pride Theater Festival is fourfold: (1) to showcase the works of local playwrights; (2) to build a racially and culturally diverse theater community with particular emphasis on attracting le***an-gay-bisexual-transgender (lgbt) participants to work together with straight participants; (3) to develop racially and culturally diverse audiences

Set in 1862: While HENDA recuperates in Pittsburgh after a tragic attempt to settle the Western frontier, EIDEL reignites HENDA’s drive to try again. However, HENDA’s plans leave no room for a partner, especially a romantic one.

Each year, the Pittsburgh New Works Festival receives hundreds of new plays that eventually get narrowed down to the 18 that are produced as LabWorks or Main Stage productions after rounds of critique, scoring and board review.
