Here is the story of how Amazon is complicit in the theft of my identity and work.
I saw an ad for a book called A-Maze-in Mazes by Joe Wos. The only problem is… I have no such book! I went to the amazon site and all the descriptions and bio information appears to be AI generated!
I contacted Amazon directly and they were of no use, filed the complaints but it is still up.
The bigger issue is how does this happen? It is being sold and produced by amazon, but because someone else is “creating” it they can claim no responsibility through DMCA protection!!! John Fetterman Gisele Barreto Fetterman please help fight DMCA all it does is allow big tech companies to avoid accountability at the detriment of the little guy like me! It enables theft and libel by corporations without and recourse!
The art the book is using appears not to be mine, they are just stealing my name, identity and brand to promote this crappy book. Which does harm my reputation as an artist!
I know I am not alone! people are using AI to steal our identities and work and Amazon encourages it through their print on demand services.
It is very odd that it would target me specifically and I suspect that the actual seller just uses algorithms to find keywords associated with certain products and my name is strongly associated with mazes. So they fake up an ai bio and ai description, fill the book with 30 pages worth of crap art and put my name on it! Print on demand by Amazon, sold by amazon, advertised by amazon, and then amazon says, “We have nothing to do with it!” They won’t even release the information of who actually produced it to me!
I am talking to my syndicate lawyer Weds morning and will hopefully have some recourse to at least get this taken down.
But the bigger issue is Amazon will continue to get away with this again and again and again because congress is protecting them!
