Industry and art merge as the Grohmann Museum hosts a first-of-its kind museum exhibition, blending historic steel mill artifacts with painting and sculpture.

“Patterns of Meaning: The Art of Industry by Cory Bonnet” features salvaged pieces that are monuments to industry created from glass, ceramics and other materials. These massive objects honor the innovators and workers that built our modern world.

The exhibition includes dozens of works from large scale paintings to monumental sculpture and chandeliers, all made from enormous wooden casting patterns used in steelmaking during the late-1800s and early-1900s.

"Patterns of Meaning" opens next Friday during Milwaukee Gallery Night. A Gallery Talk featuring artist Cory Bonnet () will be held at 6:30pm on Jan 19th.

Stayed with some of my favorite humans this week in CT and RI. As an added bonus I visited some of my work in their homes and even added a piece to the collection. Thank you to my patrons who often become friends and my friends who often become patrons:) ❤️

New piece…

If you’ve been to my studio you’ve likely heard me speak about how my paintings have a way of informing me where I am in my life. This piece has been developing over the last few months. What I see staring back at me on canvas is quite the reflection. It feels as if the cascading colors are falling out of order, narrowing the path, no longer carrying the beauty behind it. The space around it feels vast. Inevitably, however, there is a moment of touching down onto something new. It’s order is different yet reflective as if it’s offering a new perspective. Perhaps it’s a story that resonates with you or perhaps you see something that’s only yours to see… In any case, the overall message to me is reassuring - sometimes you have to slow down, reflect, breathe, regain perspective and remember that life is beautiful.
