Repost from our Founder .no.lia__
——————————————-
You are all cordially invited to my Master's recital. This project is so special to me because I was blessed with the gift of featuring the works of Richard O. Thompson, Maude Cuney Hare, Antônio Carlos Gomes, Marques L.A. Garrett, Cynthia Cozette Lee, and Harry Lawrence Freeman.
This program is not just a student recital but is also a historical event. My recital will be a historical event as it will act as the world premiere of my own transcription of “In the Calm of Eventide” by Harry Lawrence Freeman. Freeman was the first African American to write an opera that was successfully produced in the United States and was extremely prolific (he wrote over 20 operas during his lifetime). African Kraal has not been performed since its Wilberforce university premiere in 1903 thus making my recital the first time the piece has been heard in 119 years.
As such it is my wish that you attend this event in person or virtually. It is my hope that this work gives you as much freedom and love as the process of creating this work has given me 💕💗💗💗
