While teaching in Paraguay this summer, Isaac Hernandez, piano instructor in the Department of Music at Pittsburg State University, is making meaningful connections with the country's vibrant music community.

Isaac is spending the next three weeks in Asunción teaching a university-level Music Appreciation course through the PSU in Paraguay program. The program allows students in Paraguay to earn Pittsburg State University credit while taking courses taught in English by Pitt State faculty.

In addition to teaching, Isaac has been participating in several cultural and musical outreach opportunities. Yesterday, he was invited to appear as a featured guest on Paraguay's National Radio, where he shared highlights from his career as a concert pianist and introduced listeners to Pittsburg State University. During the interview, Isaac discussed the unique opportunity for Paraguayan students to take Pitt State courses in Asunción and spoke about the Hispanic Music Festival held annually in the Pittsburg community.

Isaac also promoted his upcoming activities in Paraguay, including piano masterclasses and a recital at the Universidad Nacional's Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Arte, as well as a concert with the Youth Orchestra of the CCPA.

His visit reflects Pittsburg State University's ongoing commitment to strengthening educational and cultural partnerships in Paraguay while creating opportunities for academic and artistic exchange.

Those interested in connecting with Isaac during his stay in Paraguay are encouraged to email him at [email protected].
