Good afternoon slot car enthusiast!!
First of all, I hope that everyone stays safe from Hurricane Ian when it comes up the Gulf and don't take this storm too lightly.
As of now, we have not made any changes to our schedule for this week until we see what the confirmed path of travel will be.
Tonight we are running the 4.5" Nostalgic Hard body stockcars at 6:30PM.
A full report of our normal races I hope to get published tomorrow but wanted to get the Retro Rumble report done first.
WOW.....what a great weekend of retro slot car racing this past weekend for the 5th Annual Fast Eddie's Southern Retro Rumble.
We had some great retro racers travel from New Hampshire, New York and Georgia to race with our local and state guys to make this year's event an awesome time with everyone.
Thanks to Dominic Loungo, Jimmy Williams, Tony Powell, Clyde Romero, Felix Mueller for making the long journey and for all the memories this past week. Good times!!
I got to thank Gregory Wells for making the long drive down from Georgia to cover the event for SlotBlog and provide all the updates in actual time for the other racers around the country to follow.
To all of our regular, local and state racers that came to support the GRRR series and this event, thank you!
To all of our sponsors that provided so many great prizes and giveaways & support to help make this year's event special we are so very thankful for each and everyone of you.
I got to thank Ralph Thorne for some amazing plaques as well as JB Effects for some great t-shirts this year and Undisputed Belts who made the overall champion belt that we awarded to Danny "DZ" Zona for the event.
Without all of your support this event would not have been possible and Elaine & I are so very thankful to all of you!!

In my B-Main race I was disqualified for running the wrong car Jeff Bonanno had lent me one of his back up cars to use. His cars are similarly painted and while trying to take care of everything else with setting up the races and taking pictures I grabbed the wrong car off the shelf and ran his A-Main car.
Prior to the A-Main race the guy's allowed Jeff to change the tires on his race car and test it to make sure it was fine.
During the race Jeff jumped out to a commanding 2 lap lead after the first 2 heats and in the 3rd heat his lead wire clip broke causing his car to lose brakes hitting the wall. The rear axle upright ended up getting bent causing him to pull out of the race.
After some nice pulled pork for lunch it was on to the fast & furious Formula 1 with 14 entries on the Huge Tri-oval.
Jay Guard won Concours with his authentic looking painted car
Danny Zona won TQ and set a new track record with a fast lap of 3.070
B-Main results
1) Grant Goerner - 419 laps, best lap of 3.135 secs in black
2) Donny Caron - 404.08, 3.040 in purple
3) Clyde Romero - 398.02, 3.227 in yellow
4) Marty Mohler - 383, 3.355 in yellow
5) Terry Tawney - 338, 3.140 in purple
6) Ken Smoak - 237, 3.309 in purple
7) Ed Hoffman - DNS
After qualifying and having handling issues in qualifying I discovered that the guide tongue was twisted causing it to not handle very well so I pulled the car from the race. Didn't want to cause any wrecks because I knew they didn't need any help. LOL!!
A-Main results
1) Jeff Bonanno - 446.13 laps, best time of 3.037 secs in purple
2) Danny Zona - 439.13, 2.990 in purple
3) Jimmy Williams - 436, 3.078 in purple
4) Tony Powell - 429.13, 3.045 in purple
5) Jay Guard - 404, 3.128 in purple
6) Felix Mueller - 140, 3.273 in white
7) Dominic Luongo - 117, 3.028 in purple
Another dominant performance by Jeff Bonanno in winning his 3rd out of 4 races on the weekend.
With Jeff's misfortune in CanAm Danny Zona won Overall Championship and the Belt for one heck of a weekend of racing for him as well. WTG DZ!!
See all the weekend's pictures on our page.
Congratulations to all of the racers and to all of the podium winners and to Jasonn Kramer for winning the Rick Moore chassis raffle and to Grant Goerner who won the Jersey John chassis.
I look forward to what 2023 will bring with the 6th Southern Retro Rumble and who will be the next overall champion.
Regards,
Sometimes Fast Eddie
