James Taylor, Jr., was born in a suburb of Detroit, where music was in his city and in his soul. His stage career began at 4 years old, and he wrote his first poem at the age of 6. It was simple beginning, but it was a start. By age 12, poems turned into lyrics and melodies. When he was 15, Cynthia Springborn recorded "U Think" ("You Think") on her first demo, a song he wrote at age 14. By the tim
e he was 16, James was performing his own songs with MIDI compositions and accompaniments he composed himself. James has sung in theater groups, choirs, performed in musicals, and took voice and piano at Eastern Michigan University. He has sung in English, Latin, Italian, Spanish, Hebrew, French, German, and Korean. James has two singles (“Just Stay Home”, “When She’s Gone”), an EP (“Love Can Save Us”), and two singles with his duo, Remington Taylor (“Welcome To America”, “For Both of Us (Live)”. He began working with Kylee Remington and Remington Taylor was formed in the summer of 2016. Jason Lamb was also added to the group and provides phenomenal guitar skills. James started work in 2020 on the concept album, “PRIDE”. It’s his contribution to telling the story of LGBTQ history and culture. However, the global COVID-19 pandemic caused the recording studios to close. While at home, James began work on an EP, “hi / jt”, with plans to release it in summer 2020. Remington Taylor has plans to record two EPs, “For Both of Us” and “Sing Me A Song” with the former being a collection of more melancholy songs and the latter having a more uplifting and joyful vibe. James plans to return to work on “PRIDE”, with a hopeful release date of Spring 2021. He has many other projects ahead in planning, including “Untold Stories”, “Unnamed Untold Stories Sequel”, and “Have A Gay Holiday”.
