The last time I sat inside the DreamSong Theater, Dolly Parton was here to cut the ribbon and officially open The Dolly Parton Experience.

Today, I’m sitting in the same theater for a very different reason — hearing how Dollywood plans to honor her life, preserve her legacy, and make sure future generations understand just how much she meant to these mountains and to the people who loved her.

That contrast is hard to put into words.

What was once a celebration of something new now feels like a reminder of just how quickly a moment can become a memory. 💗

💗 WHAT A MOMENT AT DOLLYWOOD.

During today’s media event honoring the life and legacy of Dolly Parton, Heidi Parton took the stage with her band and performed “9 to 5.”

Hearing one of Dolly’s most iconic songs performed by family, on a day centered around remembering and celebrating everything Dolly meant to Dollywood and East Tennessee, made this one especially meaningful.

💗 JUST ANNOUNCED: DOLLYWOOD REVEALS NEW WAYS TO HONOR DOLLY PARTON

We just stepped out of the press conference, and Dollywood has announced several new projects and additions that will honor the life and legacy of Dolly Parton.

Among the plans announced:

* A new Butterfly Bridge that will lead guests into The Dolly Parton Experience.
* A special waterfall and reflecting pool near the chapel, creating a quiet place for guests to pause and reflect.
* A memorial kiosk in Wildwood Grove where guests will be able to leave memories, messages and tributes to Dolly.
* Dollywood is also partnering with the City of Sevierville to create footsteps and markers at places Dolly frequently visited throughout the area.
* A new character called The Dream Maker will be introduced in Wildwood Grove, continuing Dolly’s message of dreaming big and encouraging others.
* A new grand finale will be added inside Songteller at The Dolly Parton Experience.
* An eighth video will be added to the DreamSong Theater "Precious Memories" experience, featuring members of Dolly’s family reflecting on her life and legacy.
* Dollywood also says there is currently no timetable for removing the memorial areas that have been established just inside the security checkpoint at the park entrance.

These are lasting ways Dollywood is beginning to preserve Dolly’s story, her values, her family and her deep connection to the Smoky Mountains for generations to come.

And based on what we heard today, this is only the beginning. 💗
