I always think about specific memories and special people when I paint. For this one, I thought about one of my late grandpas- my Grandpa Thomas. He had an old small truck that was loud - you could hear it coming from miles away. He would drive my late grandma Zonnie around town from Del Mu**to to Chinle. He always sat out in the truck with his window down; people watching. He was known to always have skoal in his mouth and a permanent circle in his back jean 👖 pocket where he kept it. He was a frail looking man- but man was he strong- herding sheep, chopping wood, he did it all. He always wore his cowboy hat, a button-up shirt, and boots. He was always smiling-even when he would get in trouble for drinking. I remember the last time he hugged me, he patted my shoulder and smiled so big. As he walked away, he said "Hágooshį́į́" - until next time. 🙌🏾✨️
