First Studio Gallery

First Studio Gallery The historic First Studio Building houses a creative collective of artists working in a diversity of mediums.

Visit on First Fridays for the changing exhibitions. The First Studio gallery in Downtown Phoenix represents quite an interesting piece of Arizona's history. The building was built in 1949 and served as the first television studio in Arizona, which is crazy because we can't imagine a world before HBO and infomercials. The building now houses a creative collective businesses, studio space for resid

ent artists and exhibitions. They're showed work from ASU students and well-known local artists alike and are a favorite place to check out on First Fridays. It's a bright and beautifully painted building with an awesome mural of Wallace and Ladmo on the side. By far one of the most creative and historical spots in the city.

March’s global theme is Local, and we’re exploring it with someone who’s been rooted in the Valley of the Sun for over 40 years.

🎨 Meet Kristine Kollasch

Artist, entrepreneur, curator, and collaborator. For 29 years, she’s run a fine art and creative environments business—painting, murals, welding, ceramics, public art. Since 2012, she’s been lead curator at First Studio Gallery. Since 2020, she’s headed up the Sunnyslope Studio Tour.

Her work is built on connection, color, and the belief that creativity thrives when people gather in the places they share.
