We honored Dolores Huerta in 2020 because we knew she was one of the many women in history who didn't get the recognition she deserves. And her story of sexual abuse just added another layer. What an absolutely strong woman. This is a portrait of her from our project, "Noteworthy American Women" using clay to capture her of-the-earth work with the farmworkers. www.noteworthyamericanwomen.com (each portrait uses elements/substrates of the woman's story).

Muriel Bowser made a bold statement to the president in his first term. She is a fierce advocate for the people in her district. Perhaps she is choosing her battles at the moment.
