Our final class in 2026 season Cut Bank First Friday, thank you Chelsey Brown and Cut Bank School Cut Bank adult education program has concluded this evening. It is always a pleasure to share creativity and innovative ideas. Tonight's Gelli plate printing and negative space painting was an incredible experience to teach. Witnessing the progression of these abstract florals, as well as watch the freedom that comes with letting go and trusting the art-making process is magical. Here are a few snapshots from the evening. Thank you for the partnership with Cut Bank Marketplace on Main for inviting us to host classes and a great season creating art. We will see you all this fall with new classes to offer and keep creating! Have a wonderful summer.

2 seats remain! Mixed Media Collage and Frida Experience! with Karla Byl
Friday, May 1: 9 am-3 pm
Join mixed media artist and educator, Karla Byl, for a fun creative art day and Get Your FRIDA On!! Karla will share her knowledge and passion for Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, displaying many items from her Frida collection for everyone's pleasure and inspiration. In this colorful exciting atmosphere, students will create an 11"x14" mixed media abstract collage portrait of Frida, using assorted cut and torn papers, Frida’s quotes, paint and a variety of found objects. As students learn about Frida, they will explore ways to bring Frida's unique look and style to life. And…we will be treating you to a Frida-inspired lunch of homemade tacos, chips, salsa and more to enhance and nourish this artful day of celebrating renowned artist Frida Kahlo! All materials and lunch are provided in this experiential day; there is a separate $15 supply fee due to the instructor at the beginning of class. Students may feel free to bring any findings they would like to use in their artwork.

Class: Gelli Plate Beginner Class

Looking for a fun way to get creative? Join my Gelli Plate beginner class and explore how to create prints using gelli plates and unconventional materials and then turn them into a beautiful silhouette artwork. All supplies are provided. Please bring a blow dryer to help speed up drying time.

Date and Time: May 1st, 6-8pm

Location: Cut Bank High School Art Room

Fee: $35

Cut Bank First Friday classes are taught in partnership with Cut Bank Schools Adult Education Program. All participants must be 18 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in Cut Bank High School.

We have had another outstanding evening of creativity. Several of our artists experienced meditative art for the first time and departed with a sense of calm and relaxation, as well as a new means of promoting self-care. Thank you, Cut Bank First Friday Cut Bank Marketplace on Main, and Cut Bank Adult Education program, for allowing me to be a part of this creative outlet. Here are a few moments from last night.

I had the pleasure of hosting a meditative art class this evening for visiting MSU college students who completed a week of practicum in my school district. They experienced the calming effects of zentangle and neurographic art. This form of art provides you the opportunity for some self-care and calm the mind.
