I think "Minnesota Dinner in Winter Dark and Pink" could fit into a few different places. Where will you display it?

Still Life, Set Table in winter light, upper midwest suburbia, USA. Daylight has faded into pink and gray, the table is set but the dining room is still darkening, waiting for the family to gather, the warm oven to open up and spread the smells of a cozy hearty winter meal. There is something cold but hopeful about the pregnant table overlooking the evening snowy yard outside. I'm glad there are candles to capture the children's best manners. Does this piece conjure memories for you? Does it have so many stories to reveal? Acrylic on paper. 18" x 24" Where will it go?

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

"Brittlebush After Bloom at Canyon Lake, AZ" and my other work are connected to the people who love them, not just the places they're displayed.

Arizona Roadside Poppy Bloom 2024

When the winter is wet enough in Arizona, a riot of spring wildflower color shows on desert hillsides, and the poppies blanket their sunny mango yellow blooms along roadsides and mountainsides. Photographers love these shots, but I'm there painting the blooms bit by bit, hoping to show you what I saw, smelled, felt and loved. In a parking lot near Rattlesnake Cove at Bartlett Lake I took a few hours to save these little shadowy and sunny moments. Acrylic on canvas, just 10" x 8", can't wait to find the perfect frame for this little happy brown, green and gold picture of humble beauty. The poppies open wide in the sunlight and close up to sleep at night. How sweet!

Collectors often choose artwork because it keeps giving long after the moment it’s received, and "Arizona Roadside Poppies Spring Super Bloom 2024" carries that kind of energy.

Acrylic on stretched canvas, just 10" x 8", can't wait to find the perfect frame for this little happy brown, green and gold picture of humble beauty. The poppies open wide in the sunlight and close up to sleep at night. How sweet! Showing it in a vintage black, slightly sepia-toned frame.

The Original is in a new home, but high quality prints are still available

Summer evenings are longer than any other time of year. There is stretched, unhurried time to live a little more mindfully.

"The Smell of Lemons" is available now, in the online gallery.

Smells can evoke memories, so can music, but can art alert your sense of smell? I'm sure of it, and it's what I hope I sometimes accomplish. Also, lemons are a favorite fruit of artists for still life, because, I think, they are so individual, bumpy, varied, not quite round but curvy - maybe something like the Buddhist tasting a raisin meditation, drawing your attention in a good way, helping to appreciate all their qualities of visual joy, tart memories, scent memories. Keep lemons close to remind you ot the gift they are to your memories, of pies, lemonaide, scones, Avgolemono...

This original is now in a private collection, but Petite Prints are still available, and I love still life commissions - name your fruit!

Lo Lo Mai Springs is a privately owned campground and day use facility on a beautiful mile of Oak Creek, near Sedona, Arizona. While Oak Creek itself is serene and picturesque for a long way, the spring fed pond is really a special treat, in a glade of towering trees, unusually large old cottonwoods and sycamores, the spring fed pond attracts birds, butterflies and must have supplied early inhabitants of the area with both ample clean water and wildlife, a treasure in a desert landscape. It can be crowded, but the bench swings and benches that surround the well shaded spring pond invite still observation. It's a place I hope to paint again and again. The "resort" itself can be crowded with family and feral-leaning children, but it's natural beauty is still irresistible. I'm not sure what the yellow overgrowth on the pond is, but it was shining yellow in the sunlit center of the pond from where I painted. Algae? I hope I captured the depth of the deep deep black-green water and shaded foliage dotted with slivers of sun accenting the verdure.

This painting is acrylics on canvas board.
