Storytellers Project Storytellers Project was a nationwide series of live storytelling nights from 2011 to 2022. These events were all about intimacy and community connectivity.

Storytellers Project, 2011-2022, was a nationwide series of live storytelling nights where anyone, from neighbors to notables, could step on stage and share a true, first-person story with their community. USA TODAY NETWORK newsrooms curated nights of true, first-person stories from neighbors and notables. Journalists coached people to share entertaining, illuminating stories for diverse audiences. We believed oral storytelling and journalism served and reflected a community, while developing empathy in that community. These nights blended the authenticity and discipline of storytelling with the truthfulness, community-building and empowerment that’s at the heart of great journalism. Since its 2011 founding, the Project had coached more than 700 people to tell at about 120 events. They were designed to cultivate and affirm feelings of loyalty, deep engagement and trust.
