Just wanted to throw a shout out to the incredible genius/artist that is .es
Almost 10 years ago, I was at a place that I would never have imagined in my life. I was tattooing with some of the best artists in the world, at arguably one of the biggest shops in the world. I learned SO much from just observing the work and techniques of others. While I didn’t agree with a lot of the Hollywood mentality, I tried to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground, and focus on learning and being the best artist that I could be.
Through this job/career I met a TON of amazing people, and made a few long lasting friendships that I cherish deeply. Somewhere along the way I was asked to submit an 8x10 photo. So, with sarcasm I gave a dirty stach’d photo with thee ol’ skeptical eyebrow. Little did I know that this would be immortalized on the back of High Voltage Tattoo/LAInk for years to come.
I had met .es at the shop several times before and always admired his spray can wizardry, but it was having the opportunity to actually watch him work that gave me a whole new appreciation for this form of art.
I saw the sketch on the wall, and thought, how the f**k can you paint something that big, on a wall, while holding the 8x10 in your hand. This was SO insane to witness. I kept sneaking outside to watch this creation grow, and everytime I looked…I was blown away.
Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you to Belin for creating this absolutely incredible piece of art, and for also being an incredibly humble artist. I think people get so self absorbed sometimes, that they never stop to think that there is always room to grow. As an artist. As a person. Etc. So to have someone like Belin be such an inspiration for positivity, humility and talent was a real honor.
