Australian rock group AC/DC was founded in Sydney in 1973. Although the band simply refers to their music as "rock and roll," it has been categorized as heavy metal, blues rock, and hard rock. They're credited with helping shape the current generation of British heavy metal bands.

In addition to Dave Evans on lead vocals, Larry Van Kriedt on bass guitar, Colin Burgess on drums, and Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar, Angus formed AC/DC in 1973. Before releasing High Voltage, their debut album released exclusively in Australia, they underwent multiple lineup changes (1975). Following the publication of Let There Be Rock (1977), the group's membership stabilized, consisting of the Young brothers, Rudd on drums, Williams on bass guitar, and Bon Scott on lead vocals.
