CLEAR FILAMENT TIPS

1. Slow it down
Clear filament does NOT like speed.

Slower prints = better layer bonding
Better bonding = more light passes through

2. Print a little hotter
Bump your temp up slightly from your normal settings.

More heat = better fusion between layers
Fewer gaps = more clarity

3. Turn your fan DOWN
Too much cooling is your enemy here.
High fan = layers don’t bond well = cloudy look

Try low fan… or even no fan depending on the print.

4. Skip ironing
It might seem like it would make things smoother, but it actually does the opposite for clear prints.

Ironing re-melts and smears the top layer in uneven ways
That creates tiny inconsistencies that scatter light (aka: cloudy)

AND… it can cause clogs.
The super low, inconsistent flow during ironing can lead to buildup in the nozzle or partial jams—especially with clear filament.

5. Try slightly thicker layers
Sounds backwards, but it helps.

Thicker layers = fewer transitions for light to bounce through

6. Little to no infill. You may still get some bridging depending on the shape but that will be minor. I have found that honeycomb infill looks cool with my rock candy mesh.

7. Think “smooth and fused”
Everything you’re doing should help:
✔ layers melt together
✔ reduce tiny gaps
✔ keep extrusion consistent

These scissors are made for leather, but they are perfect for 3D prints.

When supports won’t pop off cleanly (because let’s be real… they don’t always), these let you:
🩷get into tiny spaces
🩷cut clean without damaging your print
🩷save all that detail you worked for

In a perfect 3d printing world, all supports would just fall away, but they don’t always do that, depending on the shape.

These scissors have saved me a lot of time and headaches.

Yesterday I took my kids to Kids Empire at SanTan Village and ended up climbing the indoor playground like a whole kid myself 😄

From up there, I looked down the mall and spotted a store called The Jaded Finch and I immediately thought,
oh… that is MY kind of place.

You know those stores where every corner is a moment?
Little vignettes everywhere, layered tablescapes, chandeliers, florals… just pure ambiance.

I went back today… and yep.
It’s even better inside.

I met the owner, Wynn, and she was absolutely lovely. You can tell this is one of those heart-and-soul businesses where every detail is intentional.

I already picked up a few goodies (of course I did 😂) and I will be going back.

The store is stocked with the items of 5 different local vendors Remember Ivy and Sage? This is where some of those vendors went! ❤️
