A case for hiring an event planner…
…So I’m walking down the aisle on the deck of the Queen Mary, a warm breeze blowing through the air, smiling guests gathered round on my wedding day. My mom and dad on either side of me. I look down the aisle and there, at the end is the man of my dreams. Next to him is the clergyman who has placed the Bible on a table by his side. My dear friend sings and lute music fills the air. It is everything I had ever wanted.
And wait - wait. What? There’s a peach tablecloth on that table. No, no, no. Peach tablecloths were only in the ballroom. On the deck it was supposed to be all pink and white. (Ok, I was married a million years ago when those colors were popular.)
My mind races. Should we start over? Would that be weird? Should I keep walking? How could this have happened? I know how…too much leading up to this day. Too many details…
Just then a voice of reason goes off in my head. “The love of your life is waiting at the end of that aisle. Let it go.”
…and I did. I had the time of my life and so did everyone at our wedding.
But, if I had to do it all over again, I really would have hired an event planner to take away the myriad of details that kept coming. I know many events will have a “peach tablecloth” in it, even with some planners. But sharing the burden would have been nice.
Eventually I joined this amazing industry, providing adjunct entertainment (high end Photo Booth services, custom hats and shirts, airbrush tattoos, decor). I love my job and value every planner and client with whom I work. I do my very best, as does our team, to really listen to the details, to be a team player and to do everything we can to make each event as perfect as possible for our clients and guests.
Wishing you all the best of events the next time you celebrate, and hopefully peach tablecloth-less. 🌺
