After two years, The Whole Story returned to Phoenix Art Museum on March 4, 2022 for "HAVE IT YOUR WAY" a storytelling show about the choices Black women make, the choices made for them and the impact of those decisions on all of us.

Seven women shared about their choices - their choices to love, mother and live their lives to the fullest.

From our founder and director Rachel Eseoghene Egboro:

This hallway at Phoenix Art Museum led to some of my favorite activities in preparation for the : rehearsals and photo shoots. Both activities took us storytellers through a roller coaster of feelings that vacillated between fear, vulnerability, confidence and empowerment.

This process is the most important part of developing a strong story and sometimes it’s hard to see the end result on your own. That’s what I love about coaching storytellers - helping them see the light at the end of the tunnel. (And many thanks to folks like Dan Hoen Hull who reminded me of my own light.)

It’s been an honor to help Black storytellers share their “whole stories” over the past five years in Arizona. Thank you. I’ll never forget what I’ve learned in the valley of the sun. I grew strong roots in the desert and I pray you continue to follow my journey in New York. The Whole Story isn’t going anywhere and I encourage you to stay tuned for what’s next on the page and subscribe for email updates.

Last night, we shared about the losses and gains we experienced in 2020. Then we brainstormed about how those experiences can shape stories we’ll tell in 2021. Catch the recording via the link in our bio!

The Whole Story returns to Phoenix Art Museum throughout 2021 in a virtual format kicking off the new year with a new series, 2020: What happened? What now?

The Whole Story will hold a space for Black storytellers to reflect on 2020 and brainstorm new stories that will be shared later in 2021. The audience will witness how a story can develop from an idea into a performance as the storytellers share some of the highlights and lowlights of the past year.
