From the deep mossy forests of coastal New England, and the gritty and grime of the New York City Underground, desert siren Astarte Dentata brings a whirlwind of mystic visions to Torchlight Circus.

Astarte Dentata (“Allison Dee”) is a tarot reading, stilt walking, fire spinning mermaid.

In 2001 Astarte began reading for Psychic Insights International. Since her arrival in Arizona, she has shared her talents with Circus Farm, Flam Chen, House of Cirque, Relentless Beats, and Showstoppers Entertainment. As a founding member of Ordo Helicali, Astarte has pierced the veil in many dive bars and private parlors. As an independent reader, she has thrown bones and read tea in the New Orleans rain, and made it back to read cards and talk smack at Arizona’s own Goldrush EDM festival. It is with great pleasure and deep gratitude that she joins Torchlight Circus this season.

WELCOME TO THE DMU
A while back I decided to quit a touring band because it was just becoming too much to juggle with being a successful family man… but here lies the problem. Im an artist. This incessant need to create with what I now perceived as a limited outlet left me feeling anxious. So I started writing music and creating art digitally… getting out all my ideas that I could sculpt and obsess over in my free time. What has culminated from this venture has brought me here… with this idea. Im not a band. Im just a man with some “cool” s**t that Id like to share with the world. So with that said, I give you the DARK MARKERS project. A collection of artistic imagery coupled with sound. Each piece/product/movement is a window into a universe that I have been sculpting over time. A cosmic and psychedelic journey within my brain, or possibly the Pleiadian high council of seven that is controlling me. Not sure. Regardless, Ive decided to turn this into a tangible item with sonic accompaniment. Each package contains an article of apparel, assortment of art, adhesive advertisement, and acid trippin audio. Alright.
For those of you curious as to how I generate this absurd imagery. It is done mostly with the pen/lasso tool in PhotoShop, and I use a ton of reference imagery taken from the world wide web. Now you know…

Francesco Caban is an ASU alumni with a BFA in Dance Education through the Katherine K. Herberger College of Arts. Devoted for over 15 years to the “Movement Arts” he is an Intelligent, Experienced, Architect of movement. He can Choreograph, Perform, and Teach.
Francesco’s background includes Break Dancing and New Style Hip Hop, University level Contemporary Modern and Ballet technique, Gymnastics/Acrobatics/Tricking, Partner Stunting/Adagio, Cheer Leading, Obstacle/Prop Manipulation, Capoeira, and Character Roles (Former ASU’s Sparky.)
A strong believer in the interconnection of all movement and is on a life journey to explore how different physical attainments all share a common movement source, and has since coined the phrase “Movement Artist” as his profession. He also strongly believes in the application of the three major elements known as the body, mind, and human spirit. The body, being ones physical ability and application; The mind, being how one sorts through physical knowledge; And the human spirit, being how ones will alone can help to aide the body and mind to accomplish great feats.
As an educator that uses integrated curriculum and constructivist approaches he focuses on each student individually and subjectively to help them grow a self identity and understand their personal strengths as movers.
