Art is not about seeing—it's about intentional looking.

'Crimson Harvest' is the direct result of patient intention. I knew exactly which moment I wanted: the bee deep inside the vibrant Aloe blossom, completely dusted in gold-dust pollen. It took several attempts, focusing not just on the tiny subject but on the interplay of the deep reds and the intense, warm backlight. This shot is the ultimate payoff of a deep respect for the busy little worker and the beauty of the light.

“Photography is a story I fail to put into words.” - Destin Sparks

This piece, 'Shades of a Blossom I,' is a quiet study in visual drama. I wanted to capture the contrast you often feel in a still moment—the vulnerability of the bloom set against the immense mystery of the deep shadow. It’s an exercise in balancing selective light and rich, velvety texture. The resulting image feels less like a simple photograph and more like a captured mood, where the rich purple truly glows against the background.

For those who appreciate sophisticated and atmospheric fine art, this piece is now available in a range of print finishes, from gallery-quality canvas to high-gloss metal.

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." – Albert Einstein

This piece, 'The Oasis Within,' is my artistic interpretation of the vibrant life hidden within the arid landscape. While the subject is a prickly pear bloom, the electric contrast—the delicate, fiery orange and gold against the deep, unexpected teal at its core—is the result of intentional, focused post-processing.
My goal was to elevate the subtle beauty of the desert, transforming what I captured in the lens into a visual metaphor. The final image is an exploration of color theory and macro detail, a reminder that often, the most vibrant life and the greatest refuge are found not just in observation, but in the creative vision that brings the details to the surface.

'The Oasis Within' is now available to bring this burst of unexpected color and inspiration into your home. It’s a perfect statement piece that celebrates both nature and the art of photography.

“Details are not details. They make the design.” – Charles Eames

Every visit to the Desert Botanical Garden holds a new secret. For this shot, I was actively searching for the intimate world within the flowers. The moment I saw this tiny bee perfectly nestled "Within the Petals," I focused on isolating the shot. It took patience and precision to capture the perfect clarity—the focused light, the textures, and the bee’s industry all in one frame. This piece isn't just a picture; it’s the result of being present and intentional.

"Within the Petals" is ready to find its home. Choose from museum-quality canvas or sharp metal prints to bring this golden moment of stillness and intentional focus into your space.

'Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.' - Edgar Degas

Stepping back to look at the entire collection from September, the theme is unmistakable: Finding the extraordinary in the tiny, buzzing worlds around us. This month showcases my passion for both the camera and the canvas.

The Photography: The brilliant, almost-neon yellow of the prickly pear blossom and the quiet intensity of the Black & White Hummingbird are moments captured directly through the lens. These images are about chasing light and detail in the Arizona desert.

The Digital Art: The Great Horned Owl illustration (Slide 6) is from my first digital art collection. I created it to evoke the timeless style of vintage scientific illustrations—a new medium for me to explore the wildlife I love.

"The silence is the first thing that struck me in the desert, and then the quiet, persistent pulse of life." - Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire

This piece, "Echoes of the Wild," captures that persistent pulse in the most unexpected way. I didn't find this jackrabbit out in the remote wilderness; I found him right outside a shop in Cave Creek! My husband and I were just window shopping before meeting family for lunch when I spotted this beautiful sentinel hiding in plain sight. It was a perfect reminder that the wild is always closer than you think.

This photo isn't just a picture; it's a captured moment of stillness amidst the everyday buzz. The dramatic lighting and the quiet focus of the rabbit make it a statement piece for any room.

He's Back!

For the last few years, this little Anna’s Hummingbird has called our backyard home. We call him Carlos. We didn’t see much of him over the summer, but we certainly heard him around. Now, he's returned to his favorite roosting spot on the vitex tree just off the back porch. He’s quite vocal and will “yell” at us (especially at Scott) to get our attention when we're outside, and always makes sure we know when the feeder is getting low.

There’s a younger male in the area that Carlos has been keeping in check. We can easily tell the difference: the younger male doesn’t sing quite as much and doesn't have the same stocky build as our resident veteran.

"The earth laughs in flowers." — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Of all the colors in the spectrum, orange has always been my favorite. It’s a color of vibrant energy, warmth, and joy. And among all the flowers, marigolds have always stood out to me. Their bright, cheerful petals have a way of capturing light and life like no other. This piece, which I titled "Depth of Marigold," isn't just a photograph; it's a tribute to that vibrant energy and to the incredible detail found in something so simple.

As this week's highlight, I am so excited to share this piece with you all, and I'm even more excited that it's now available as a print! From canvas to metal prints, this piece is the perfect way to bring the warm tones of nature into your home. Click the link in my bio to shop!

"Bees do have a smell, you know, and if they don't they should, for their feet are dusted with spices from a million flowers." - Ray Bradbury, Dandelion Wine

This macro shot of a honeybee on a rosemary blossom was a result of my patience and a bit of a creative chase. I spent time following the bee from flower to flower, waiting for the perfect moment. When this little pollinator landed on the rosemary, I knew I had a small window to get the shot. It was fascinating to watch it work, a tiny part of a much larger network. As generalist pollinators, honeybees like this one will forage for nectar and pollen from a wide variety of flowers, usually within a 1-2 mile range of their hive.

The way its fuzzy body and wings glinted in the sunlight, completely covered in pollen, made all the quiet effort worth it. It’s a moment that reminds me of the beauty in patiently observing the natural world.

This piece, "Bee on Rosemary," now available as a print, is a perfect way to bring the vibrant life of nature into your home. Click the link in my bio to shop!
