Mark Vinci ART

Mark Vinci ART My work is dynamic visual abstraction about urban movement. Moments captured at high speed. Quickly forgotten. Leaving a residual imprint.

A distillation of our collective experience. Collage, painting, sculpture, are the mediums use to make my work.

Portugal. World of Wine Porto. Have a nose for wine was one of the exhibits. I think I'm good on that. Maybe too good. Cat is about as dry white. In Porto of course its port. Tasting. Not sure how the image off the bridge got this light. Some parking in Porto with no care about your car. Some homes with huge rock outcropping incorporated into the structure. Just a pretty driveway also. Monverde wine resort in the rain.

Portugal. Beach Town south of Porto. Furadoro. A quiet small beach town. But what a great way to be on the opposite side of the Atlantic. A town that gets busy in June. A castle called Castle of Santa Maria da Feira south of Porto. All I could think of is where is the hell is Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Basil Rathbone. The bridge by Eiffel in Porto. Shadows at the Porto cathedral.

Lisbon. Red Frog Speakeasy. A couple of cocktails in a wonderful setting. Down some stairs in an unassuming building. A door way that of course you could walk by all day unless google maps told you, you were there. Geronimos Monastery Lisbon. Well another crazy set of catholic structures that were started in 1500 and finished one hundred years later. Some sculptures that just were cool at waterfront near the Monastery. The castle like building is in Tomar. Part of a set of buildings started 1160 by the Knights of Templar. More crazy elaborate decorative worship space. A bridge in Aveiro a costal town with canals and lots of tourists stuff. Nice stop off on the way up the Portuguese coast. And a mosaics street. # portugal.

Seville. Catching up with wanting to post the last few days in Spain. Granada next. Wooden giant sculpture Setas de Seville. Kinda crazy. The plaza it was in was really pretty. Just wondering if it really did much for what was there. Tapas. Jamon iberico this seemed like a better installation. Food art. Cathedral de Seville biggest Gothic Cathedral in the world. Scale was imposing. Alter piece in the cathedral. This was one of the most ornate intense pieces of this type of religious ornament I had seen on any trip. I kept staring at it and it just kept revealing more and more intricate detail. Some shots of Royal Alcazar of Seville. As expected beautiful spaces and more intense decorative craftsmanship.

Cordoba in the rain in Spain. I couldn't resist. Mosque-Cathedral Monumental Site of Córdoba
Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba. Crazy space. Dark ancient cavernous and enormous. A coin found in Cordoba from 70AD. It looked like it had been minted this year, the relief was amazing. A Roman oil lamp, the bird figure is surreal and elegant. The last painting is by a Spanish arist that I did not know. Julio Romero de Torres. His take on the gospel of the lady at the well was just right from a Spanish artist. It was moody and unique in the Samaritan woman is intent in her gaze at you the viewer. Last a interior of a restaurant in Cordoba.

Madrid lots of art. Thyssen Bornemisza National Museum was the most amazing to Cat and I. What a collection. Cat enjoying a Morris Lewis. I am not a fan of his but Cat is. Kinda a classic museum shot of a viewer. The big Portrait is Sargent. I am always just awestruck when viewing one of his paintings. A Caravaggio closeup. So cool when you walk into a room of work and you see one of his masterpieces. Everything around them just doesn't even get close to the sheer genius. Last, always on the hunt for the ugliest Christ child. So many bad paintings of the infant child but this may be a topper.

Barcelona. Barcelona Maritime Museum. Full size reproduction of a galley used by the Spanish in the Battle of Lepanto. The 60-metres-long royal galley Admirals of Juan de Austria was involved in the Battle of Lepanto on 7 October 1571, in which the Turkish Armada was defeated. 236 people at 59 oars used to row on the galley. As long as a 747. The other images are of Mies van der Rohe Pavilion. A masterpiece of modern architecture. Beautiful, Minimal. The symmetry is amazing and the book end marble walls are delicious. A highlight of this city for me. .
