Three-Tier Show System
Sidestage has three basic kinds of productions; Fundraising shows, Charity shows, and Allocated shows. This system optimizes donations to a charitable cause while simultaneously accounting for the realities of having an audience base made up of college students, allowing us to offer an affordable ticket to all of our productions. Fundraising Shows:
All proceeds from fundra
ising shows are put towards the operating costs of the charity shows, thereby ensuring that all front of house earnings from the charity shows are given directly to the charitable cause. The board is careful to choose fundraising shows that have a low operating cost and do not require rights. Charity Shows:
Every semester the Sidestage Board decides upon which show will act as the charity show based on student interest and show topic. The board then attaches a local charity onto that show that fits within the themes of the production. Glory Days, a show focusing on college students coming to terms with the sexual identity of their close friends succeeded in raising $1,437.25 for the LGBTQ advocacy scholarship for the Center for the Arts. Tickets for charity shows are a fixed rate so as to raise the highest amount possible for the charitable cause. Allocated Shows:
As a three star student organization, Sidestage may allocate a maximum of $2,500 from the Student Government. However, any event using allocated funding cannot raise any form of profit for the student organization itself or for any charity. Sidestage has used this as an opportunity to offer select productions at no cost to the audience, by allocating the production costs.
