With a little over a month left as Miss Mayo, I’ve been finding myself looking back a little more lately.

So much of this year lives in my camera roll- little videos I took along the way, pictures with people who made each event special, and moments I probably didn’t realize at the time would mean as much to me as they do now.

I knew being Miss Mayo would be special, but I don’t think I could have understood just how much this year would give me. The places I’ve been, the people I’ve met, the friendships I’ve made, and the memories in between have made this so much more than wearing a sash and a crown.

So, with the countdown officially getting a little too real, here’s a glimpse of my year through my eyes - and a few of the moments that made it one I’ll never forget.

Not saying goodbye just yet… I still have a little time left. ☘️💚❤️

A little piece of family history today at the The Great Irish Fair of New York

Today I attended the Great Irish Fair of New York - a place that holds a very special meaning for my family. My grandfather, Al O’Hagan, ran the Fair starting in 1981, and what started as a dream grew into something much bigger than anyone could have imagined.

At its prime, the Fair filled the grounds with seven stages, Irish music, dancing, vendors, families and thousands of people coming together to celebrate our culture. It took an unbelievable amount of work, but my grandfather always believed in the importance of creating a place where the Irish community could come together, have a good time, and keep our traditions alive.

Some of my favorite family stories came from those years - the people we met, the entertainers who became family friends, and the countless memories made along the way. I grew up hearing those stories and seeing just how much the Irish community meant to him.

It was special to walk around the Fair today and think about how much work, love and O’Hagan stubbornness went into making it what it was. Some things may change over the years, but you can’t change where a story began.

I’m proud to have grown up with his stories and even prouder to be able to visit the Fair today as Miss Mayo of Philadelphia.

Some things are worth remembering exactly where they started. 🇮🇪💚

With the Miss Mayo of Philadelphia applications officially open, I figured it was finally time for a little “get to know me” - not only as Miss Mayo, but as the person behind the sash. I wanted to share a little about myself, some of my favorite things, and reflect on what has been such a memorable year before my time as Miss Mayo comes to an end on November 7th.

This past year has given me so many incredible opportunities. I marched in six St. Patrick’s Day parades, including Philadelphia and New York City, attended Irish festivals and events throughout the year, met so many wonderful people, and had the opportunity to represent Mayo in so many different communities. I’ve made friendships and memories that I know I’ll carry with me long after this year is over.

A little bit about me - I’m the youngest of four from a very Irish family. I’m from South Jersey and a student at Rowan University studying Film & Media. My Irish heritage has always been a huge part of my life. My family has roots in Galway and Derry, and my dad was born in County Monaghan.

And now for some fun facts about me and my year as Miss Mayo…

☘️ I marched in a total of six St. Patrick’s Day parades this year!

☘️ Marching down Fifth Avenue was especially meaningful because my grandfather was Grand Marshal of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 1986, and his grandfather was Grand Marshal in 1929.

☘️ Outside of school and Miss Mayo, I’m a nanny! I love spending time with the kids I take care of and watching them grow.

☘️ For the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on the Cruise Of Irish Stars, helping capture footage, conduct interviews, and run social media. It’s been such a fun way to combine my love of Irish music, media, and storytelling.

☘️ East Durham has always felt like a second home to me. My grandfather grew up going there, later brought my grandmother there on dates, and years later, my parents met there too. My family has been going to East Durham for generations, and it’s a place that will always hold a special place in my heart.

☘️ I’m a proud Gloucester Catholic alum - go Rams! All three of my siblings went there too, so it’s always been a really special place for my family. ❤️💛

☘️ My grandfather was the founder of the Great Irish Fair of New York, which led our family to meet so many amazing Irish entertainers over the years. We’ve been very lucky to grow up surrounded by so much Irish music, talent, and tradition

☘️ I also have a strong interest in psychology and hope to eventually combine that with raising awareness and funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. My dad has Multiple Sclerosis, making this something very close to my heart.

☘️ I’m also the manager of the Snack Bar at Greenwood Park Bell Lake! I love coming up with new food ideas, recipes, and fun specials throughout the summer. But more than anything, I love the community there and all of the people who make it such a special place to work.

☘️ One of my favorite parts of this year has been becoming even more connected to the Irish community and meeting so many people who have become a special part of my life.

It’s hard to believe my year is already coming to an end. I’m so grateful for every parade, festival, event, friendship, and opportunity that came with being Miss Mayo of Philadelphia.

With applications now open, I’m so excited to see who will be the next person to wear the sash. If you’ve ever thought about applying, I truly encourage you to take the chance. This year has given me more than I could have imagined, and I can’t wait to welcome the next Miss Mayo!

A very special day in New York☘️🤍

Thank you to the New York Mayo Society for welcoming me back so warmly for the Feast Day of Our Lady of Knock. The Mass was beautiful, and the luncheon afterwards was such a lovely afternoon spent with the Mayo community!

New York has always held a special place in my heart. My Poppa was so involved in the Irish community here, so being surrounded by the people and traditions that meant so much to him made the day even more meaningful.

It was also so special to bring a little bit of Philadelphia with me to New York and represent the Philadelphia Mayo community here. Two places that have both played such an important part in my family and my Irish roots. 💚

Feeling very grateful to have been welcomed so warmly once again. ☘️

Today we celebrated Our Lady of Knock, a beautiful tradition that originated in County Mayo, right here in Philadelphia. 🇮🇪💚 The Mass was absolutely beautiful and such a meaningful part of the day.

A very special thank you to Sister James for all of her hard work and the heart she puts into absolutely everything she does. It truly does not go unnoticed and makes days like today so special.

It was such a special day filled with faith, Irish tradition, community, and so many familiar faces.

Days like today are such a beautiful reminder of the strength of the Irish community in Philadelphia and the traditions that continue to bring us together. ☘️🇮🇪

Congratulations to Mayo on an incredible All- Ireland victory!! Today was a reminder of what makes Mayo so special- the determination, heart, resilience, and pride that this county carries wherever it goes!

No matter what the result, I am ALWAYS proud to represent Mayo, but days like today make that pride shine even brighter.

A special day spent visiting the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. Seeing a piece of the original wall from Knock, Ireland, was incredibly meaningful and a beautiful reminder of the faith and heritage that connect us across generations and oceans.

Feeling grateful for the opportunity to represent Mayo while celebrating such an important part of our Irish story. ☘️💚

Still reminiscing on the amazing weekend we had at the East Durham Irish Festival☘️ So grateful for all the incredible music, entertainment, and memories made throughout the weekend. It was so special catching up with old friends (especially my friends from Cruise Of Irish Stars), meeting so many new faces, and celebrating such a strong sense of Irish community together.

Loved seeing familiar faces along the way, including New York State AOH President Thomas Beirne, some of my New York Mayo Friends, and even some Philadelphia Irish members! 💚 Already counting down until next year!
