In 1999, the Arden opened with a production of Tennesee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." The production featured Grace Gongewski as Maggie the Cat, Greg Wood as Brick and Tom McCarthy as Big Daddy. Since the Arden is a pet friendly environment, Grace often brought her dog Cora to hang in the dressing room during performances. During one performance, Cora was a little bored and decided to look for Grace who was in the middle of an emotional scene with Greg at the time. She wandered out into the audience and walked along the base of the stage. Without missing a beat, Grace and Greg folded sending the dog away (back to the dressing room) into their emotional scene. Cora, always the well behaved girl, complied and went back to her spot in the dressing room.

Congratulations to Arden Professional Apprentice Class 31 on a successful Showcase! The Apprentices presented a reading of "The Freeing of the Bird" by emerging local playwright Ronnie Hernandez on the Arcadia Stage using the skills they learned in the program throughout the season.

Exciting news for GOOD BONES! We loved sharing the Philadelphia premiere of James Ijames' moving play with our audiences just earlier this year, and we're super excited to see the story continue its journey as a new opera commissioned by Cincinnati Opera premiering in Summer 2028! Congrats to James and all involved. Check out the details -->

The pair of Pulitzer winners are collaborating on an opera based on Ijames' play of the same title.
