Where light becomes the artist.

Some objects don't simply reflect light—they transform it.

Handcrafted in Murano by Alfier Glass Studio, this striking platter is created using centuries-old Venetian glassmaking techniques, reimagined through a distinctly contemporary lens. Layers of silver leaf, expressive black linework, and vibrant crimson accents appear suspended beneath luminous glass, framed by a bold translucent green edge that gives the piece both structure and energy.

No two are ever alike. Each firing, each gesture, and each application of precious materials leaves behind a composition that cannot be repeated.

Whether displayed as a sculptural centerpiece or used to elevate everyday gatherings, this platter reminds us that the finest objects blur the line between art and function. It is an invitation to bring craftsmanship, history, and a little bit of Venetian magic into daily life.

Above and Below | Now Showing in Philadelphia

The SPACE Art Gallery proudly welcomes back Craig Blankenhorn with a striking new exhibition that blurs the line between grit and glamour.

Above and Below brings together Blankenhorn’s timeless silver gelatin photographs of the NYC subway with his vivid digital color portraits—transforming everyday people into cinematic icons.

For decades, Craig helped shape some of HBO’s most unforgettable moments behind the lens. At the same time, he was quietly documenting the soul of New York—capturing raw, unfiltered life beneath the city and along the streets of Brooklyn.

Each image stands on its own. Together, they create a powerful narrative—iconic, ironic, and deeply human snapshots of the world around us.

Step into the contrast.
See the story.

Collectors, take note.

Forbidden Light — the first solo exhibition by Philadelphia photographer Dale McCarthy — is now available for acquisition at The Space Art Gallery.

Photographed in Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley Park using discontinued high-speed 35mm infrared film, this body of work captures a spectrum of light invisible to the human eye. Sunlit foliage radiates with an ethereal glow, while skies and water fall into deep, velvety blacks — transforming a familiar landscape into something almost otherworldly.

Each image is the result of a fully analog process. McCarthy works with rangefinder cameras, personally develops every roll of film, and produces many of the prints in his own darkroom — a level of craft and material engagement increasingly rare in contemporary photography.

As infrared film stocks disappear and traditional darkroom practices become ever more specialized, Forbidden Light represents a distinctive moment in process-driven photographic work.

This exhibition marks McCarthy’s first solo presentation and offers collectors the opportunity to acquire early works from a thoughtful and technically dedicated voice in Philadelphia photography.

Works are now available.

Inquire with The Space Art Gallery for pricing and availability.

Forbidden Light ✨📷 by Dale McCarthy

🗓 Exhibition Dates: Feb 4 – Mar 31

The SPACE Art Gallery proudly welcomes Philadelphia-based photographer Dale McCarthy for Forbidden Light—an infrared photography journey of discovery through Wissahickon Valley Park. Wandering the trails and meadows along Wissahickon Creek and Forbidden Drive, McCarthy reveals a landscape transformed, luminous, and quietly otherworldly.

A color darkroom instructor at Fleisher Art Memorial and a member of The Halide Project, McCarthy balances a deep commitment to traditional photographic processes with a fearless spirit of experimentation. His work has been exhibited in group shows and published in Incandescent, mutiny!, Float Photo Magazine, and the Winter 2026 issue of The Hand.
