The Black Earth Urban Ag Hub and it's Farmer Freedom School is an exciting new initiative from Nriife Roots Collective, focused on supporting Black and Indigenous farmers and increasing access to fresh, healthy food in communities in Philly and the greater Southeastern, PA.

Farmer Freedom School carries forward the legacy of the Civil Rights-era Freedom Schools, offers a fresh take for today’s Black and Indigenous farmers. It mixes farming skills, business know-how, wellness, and lessons from experienced growers to help folks reconnect with their roots and build strong food businesses.

As part of Nriife Roots Collective, the BlackEarth Ag Hub is here to create real change by growing local food systems that honor culture, history, and community. We welcome Black and Indigenous farmers to join us in reclaiming traditions and feeding our neighborhoods.

Stay tuned and follow along as we grow this movement together!

Come check out our members Andrea and Vicki at BUGS! Showing ways to engage OUR youth in growing!

Vicki is a community nutrition educator, proud La Salle University alumna and MPH student who is especially passionate about infant and maternal health disparities in the Black community and how Nutrition education can bring about positive change in these health outcomes.

Andrea, a 20 year educator, develops liberatory education and empowerment programs, that anchor African-heritage youth in identity and excellence.

Together, they've put together countless incredible programs, serving the youth of Philadelphia and the surrounding counties and will be teaching the baby BUGS some new skills and showing the adults how to engage their young community in Ag.

See you there!
