Living Well Theater

Living Well Theater Living Well Theater employs the performing arts to engage older adults in peer conversations that inform and promote behaviors supporting healthy aging.

The Living Well Theater is an innovative, entertaining health education experience. We are a cadre of older adult actors who harness the power of theater to promote healthy aging in healthy communities. We develop and perform skits aimed at educating our peers about health issues and encouraging the growth of ideas, behaviors, systems and policies that support healthy aging. Are you involved in a

senior center, church-based senior ministry, or other organization that serves older adults? Do you have a message, service or product to share with older adults, that can enhances the aging experience? Are you a researcher or from an academic institution in the areas of gerontology, social work, health communication, or other disciplines that contribute to the knowledge base about older adults, or provides services to older adults? The creator of “A Soldier’s Play” has largely written for black theaters. But now he has the chance to remind the biggest audiences: African-Americans served, too.

Aging well in community, requires our collective commitment of public resources, imagination, and expertise across many fields. Aging well requires that we truly love and value older people - both the ones in our current society, and the ones that we will become.

The idea is that an increase in freedom will also increase happiness, and bring down the need for medication.
