It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Pete Cammarota. Pete was a 59 year FSB Hall of Fame and Distinguished Retired member. Pete joined the band in 1967 as a drummer and danced and wore a suit through 1985. He was known for playing the "One Man Band" role in the band's 1984 Jokers are Wild theme. After Pete retired from taking a suit he spent many years helping to build and paint our props at the garage and was a key part of our prop building group during the band's 8 in a row streak. Pete, a former board member, was made a Distinguished Retired member in 2007 and was a recipient of the band's Hall of Fame Award in 2013 and the Jack Spratt Memorial Golden Donut Award in 2004. Everyone who knew Pete loved his personality and his sense of humor. Pete was always a huge morale booster and lit everyone's face up with a smile whenever he came to the club. He was also the heart and soul of the garage for many years. Pete will be dearly missed by his many close friends, family, Fralinger brothers, and many other friends around the mum world.

Pete’s impact on Fralinger will be felt for generations, not only in what he helped build, but in the friendships, traditions, and memories he leaves behind. We are grateful for his 59 years of dedication, friendship, and brotherhood.

Rest in peace, Pete. You will always be a part of Fralinger.

From Philadelphia to Helsinki!

Fralinger String Band performing “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” at the Freedom 250 Celebration hosted by the Embassy of the United States of America in Helsinki, Finland.

It was an incredible honor to represent Philadelphia and the Mummers tradition on an international stage as part of a celebration marking 250 years of American independence.

As the event program put it, the Mummers are “part folk ritual, part neighborhood competition, part public theater — and unmistakably Philadelphia.”

We couldn’t be prouder to bring a little piece of Broad Street more than 4,000 miles from home.

What an incredible way to cap off a memorable night in Helsinki!

Following our performance, Fralinger was honored to be invited to the residence of U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Howard Brodie, for a special after-party celebration.

We’re incredibly grateful for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to share a little piece of Philadelphia and Mummers tradition here in Finland. Experiences like this make an already unforgettable trip even more special.
