First World Theatre Ensemble In residence at The Arden and CEC. Zuhairah McGill, Founder/Producing Artistic Director A powerful platform for social change where artistic heroes are made!

First World Theatre, using the stage as a platform for change, provides transformative experiences through undeniable quality on stage and service to the community. Branded by the Philadelphia press as “one of Philadelphia’s most provocative companies,” since 2001 First World Theatre has provided Undeniable Quality on the Stage and Service to the Community. First World Theatre (FWT) brings to the stage selected classic and original works intended to raise audience awareness of critically important social issues that impact all of our lives. In a strategic effort to respond to the needs of and provide direct support for audience members affected by the issues addressed in the plays, First World Theatre partners with organizations and field professionals whose work relates to the social themes. FWT's featured Talk-Back Sundays are the talk of the town and allow for real in-depth discussions and questions to be asked. FWT distinguishes itself by producing daring yet professional quality theatre, as in the days of the Negro Ensemble. First World Theatre also nurtures and showcases new talent and new works while bridging the gap between the theatre it produces and the change it seeks to create. We invite YOU to join in this artistic and social renaissance .
