PDE co-founder gets vulnerable with Bold Journey Mag!
"Recently, I had a moment that made me laugh and feel proud at the same time while teaching an Independence Awards workshop with my dear friend Sara Quagliata at Ensemble Arts Philly. We were representing Paper Doll Ensemble, leading a devising and improvising workshop for a group of high school students. We were wearing t-shirts from our most recent show, Pinky Promise, which is set in 2005. I made the mistake of asking how many of them were born after 2005, and every single hand went up. It was a very humbling reminder of my age.
What followed was pure joy. The students dove into their improvised scenes with fearlessness and humor. Their creativity and willingness to play reminded me why I love working with young artists and why theatre continues to feel so alive. I laughed a lot that day, and I left feeling incredibly energized and proud." - Grayce Carson
