The Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus joins the Philly arts community in mourning the loss of Dito van Reigersberg.
To Philadelphia, Dito was Martha Graham Cracker, a singular voice and presence who reshaped what drag could be in this city: theatrical, literary, deeply musical, and unmistakably human. To us, he was also a friend and collaborator. Dito was our headlining performer at the 2019 Stargaze Masquerade Fall Ball, and in 2022 he shared the stage with us at the first-ever Philadelphia Orchestra Pride concert.
Both nights were unforgettable, and both were better because Dito was there. He brought generosity, wit, and a kind of joy that filled whatever room he was in.
Our love and condolences go to his family, friends, and the many artists and friends who were lucky to share a stage, a song, or a moment with him. Philadelphia will miss him. We will miss him.
