Last concert of the season💛 - closing with Beethoven’s Eroica and Triple Concerto

What an incredible way to end this chapter. Under the baton of Music Director David Hayes , and with inspiring performances by , our musicians brought such heart to every moment. Thank you to our audience for being with us throughout the season.

This concert was also especially meaningful as we celebrated the retirement of longtime second violinist Donna Grantham. We are deeply grateful for her many years of artistry, dedication, and friendship. She will be truly missed, and we wish her all the very best in this next chapter.

We can’t wait to see you next season!

Beethoven takes center stage 🎼

Join us for a powerful program led by David Hayes, featuring Symphony No. 3 “Eroica” and the Triple Concerto, performed by the acclaimed Trio Zimbalist.

Praised by Gramophone for their “astonishingly accomplished debut,” the trio brings incredible energy and artistry to the stage. All three musicians are Curtis ( institute) Institute alumni and perform widely across the U.S. and Europe.
We close the season with an all-Beethoven program and two of his most iconic works. It’s going to be an unforgettable night. ✨

A Soldier. A Violin. The Devil.

Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat (The Soldier’s Tale) tells the story of a soldier who trades his violin for wealth—and the devil comes to collect.

Conducted by David Hayes with narrator Todd Thomas and featuring musicians from the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, this theatrical work blends narration with Stravinsky’s vivid, genre-crossing score.

🎻 Music, storytelling, and a deal you can’t take back.

David Hayes conducts the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia featuring virtuoso pianist Henry Kramer performing Felix Mendelssohn’s brilliant Piano Concerto No. 1. The program opens with Adolphus Hailstork’s Lachrymosa: 1919, a moving and richly lyrical work full of expressive melodies in an intimate orchestration. Mendelssohn’s captivating concerto, renowned for its virtuosic energy and melodic beauty follows, showcasing Kramer’s extraordinary artistry. The concert concludes with a performance of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 11, written just prior to his famous Octet for Strings, when the composer was only fifteen years old!
Henry Kramer made his debut with the Chamber Orchestra in 2024 performing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 for Piano, Trumpet and Strings with Mary Elizabeth Bowden. He has a reputation for exuding a rare sensitivity with insightful and exuberant interpretations. He was a prizewinner in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and received an Avery Fisher Career Grant by Lincoln Center – one of the most coveted honors bestowed on young American soloists.
