“'This is in no means trying to replace live theater,' said Wilma artistic director Lindsay Smiling. 'We’ve seen the data that this gets the word out … and we can now actually help promote theater around the country, starting locally with Pennsylvania theaters, to promote theater as a thing to do. Hopefully this will help get people excited to come to the theater again.'”

Thanks to a generous grant from the William Penn Foundation, we are excited to bring community voices to the Wilma's stage! Our all-new COMMUNITY CABARET series will feature original stories and performances by Philadelphians - and this year, we'll be working alongside our partners at the Blind Social Club.

Community Cabaret shows are on the horizon (June 25 and 26 onstage at the Wilma—save the dates)!

And thanks to TechOwl for hosting the Wilma and Blind Social Club for a tour of the space and some theater games facilitated by our Director of Education and Community Practice, Jess Conda, back in July 😍

If you missed Barrymore-recommended Horsegirl & Cowdaddy on the Wilma stage, you can stream it starting this Thursday, Oct. 8th (more info coming soon)! You can also see it on stage in NYC at Soho Rep. from Feb. 20 - Mar. 21 (tickets on sale Nov. 17) 😍

"Horsegirl & Cowdaddy" from The Wilma Theater is BARRYMORE RECOMMENDED! See it before it hits the dusty trail on October 4th, and check out the "What's On Stage" page of our website for more information 🐴

Horsegirl, a trans woman in her thirties, lives a life of routine alongside her father, Cowdaddy, in a forgotten town in Pennsylvania – until she falls in love with a new-to-town teacher, triggering a physical transformation in the wake of which Horsegirl must decide for herself what a happy life looks like.
