Backstory. This was supposed to happen this summer but my car was broken into and my laptop was stolen along with all my artwork that wasn’t saved to the cloud so I had to start from scratch. There’s a lot more coming but this process takes time.

Quick background before we get into today’s facts. I created this to show some of the 4 most well known civil rights leaders in our country. There are loads more who have had even more important roles but since this was to help sell apparel with it made since to choose wide known peeps.

In honor of this week I have chosen to give little facts on the civil rights movement. Although has been fetishized as peaceful and well loved “before his death in 1968, King was well on the way to becoming a pariah. In 1966, twice as many Americans had an unfavourable opinion of him as a favourable one. branded his anti-Vietnam war speech at the Riverside church, delivered exactly a year before his assassination, as “demagogic slander”, and “a script for Radio Hanoi”. Just a week before he was killed, he attended a demonstration in in support of striking garbage workers. The protest turned violent and police responded with batons and teargas, shooting a 16-year-old boy dead. The press and the political class rounded on King. said the events were “a powerful embarrassment” to him.” -

On this more than ever we should remember that MLK was a revolutionary and not as complacent as history has rewritten him. We must continue to fight for our freedom and our right. It’s been a long battle but not a worthless one. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I am making this whole week a history lesson of civil rights.
