At the age of 8, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up… I said a Teacher, a Mom of 2 and to Own My Own Dance Studio, and here at 36 by the will of Allah, I can say I stood on all 10!
From countless shows, to countless events… & all the quick changes in between. ✨
From celebrity appearances with PnB Rock and Kevin Hart, to dancing background for Bobby Shmurda…🤩
From majorette to competitive dance…🩰
From Wallace Street, to Buttonwood, & then to Girard…🏘️
From coach buses to private chartered flights…✈️
From summer camps, to master classes, to every winter intensive…💃🏾
From dancing on the Marley, to dancing center court at the Wells Fargo Center — not once, not twice, but FOUR TIMES! 🏀✨
From little dancers taking their very first steps, to watching them grow into confident, talented young people…👯♀️
From news coverage on every tv station, to every newspaper 📰…
From citations from the city rep, to the mayor and then the big dawg THE GOVERNOR…👨🏼⚖️
From rehearsals that seemed like they would never end, to performances we wished could last forever…⏰
From trophies and titles, to lessons that had absolutely nothing to do with winning…🏆
From the moments that made us proud, to the moments that tested us…🥺
For months, I’ve sat with myself trying to formulate many different ideas/ways to continue the program. BBDA/BBPAC was never about the money for me, the passion I’ve had since I was 3 years old in the art of dance has always been something I wanted to present to my community, providing endless opportunities. Today, I’m over whelmed with emotion as I begin to say goodbye to something that’s not only been apart of me, since 2013, something that’s touched over 200+ kids….but a LEGACY I built more than a decade ago!
…. After 13 remarkable seasons, BBDA/BBPAC took its final bow. 🤍🩰
There comes a time in every journey when you have to recognize that a chapter has been beautifully written… and it’s time to turn the page.
I am exhausted — in more ways than I can put into words — but I am also deeply grateful!
