I am grateful to The Evoluer House for the opportunity to speak to the summer mentees. Our lively conversation about my work and the mission of Black Dolls Matter® was a powerful experience for all of us. Black Dolls Matter exists to positively influence how people of color perceive themselves and their community, and how their community is perceived globally.

Our summer mentees had the incredible opportunity to have a lively conversation with Mark Ruffin, Emmy Award-winning costume designer and founder of . They talked about how his work with iconic platforms like Sesame Street and Broadway made significant contributions to representation in the toy industry. And how his Black Dolls Matter brand aims to have a positive impact on how people of color perceive themselves and their community, as well as how the community is perceived globally.

Our Story

MRCO Studio™ established in 2008 to provide creative services for television, film, theater, and advertising. Specialists in the design and fabrication of costumes, puppets, and props. Our works can be seen on the big screen in M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Unbreakable’ and Neighborhood Films ‘Concrete Cowboys’ also in the Netflix™ series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Our costume design and fabrication for performance art for the Sundance Film Festival, and the Whitney Biennial are part of the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, and the Seattle Museum of Art.
