On the way down to see the grandbabies I started the second sock. I worked on it a little while we were down there, and I finished it on the way back!

The cuff of the first one is a little wonky, as I was still getting used to working on DPNs. But other than that they're roughly the same size, and bonus - the stripes almost align perfectly! I'm ok with them being slightly off. They are homemade, after all.

And if I ever looked like a grandma, I did while I was knitting with TWO pairs of glasses on. My bifocals aren't strong enough anymore so I bought readers to put on top. The grandma look is shiek these days, yes?

For the first time, I knitted something without a pattern.

I've been crocheting so long at this point I can make almost anything I want without a pattern, but I've only been knitting for a couple of years, and sporadically at that. But I needed something, and I wanted it knitted instead of crocheted.

Every year, my best friend and I do a 12 Days of Christmas gift exchange, where we wrap up 12 gifts (inexpensive and/or handmade - just things we picked up throughout the year that make us think of each other). I had sewn 12 drawstring gift bags out of Christmas-patterned flannel and gold ribbon for the presents themselves, but the box I used to put them all in fell apart.

So I made a Santa sack! I hope it's big enough... One of the reasons I wanted a knitted bag is because it's more stretchy.

And now back to my socks - the heel is almost done on the first one!

If someone knits you a pair of socks, just know they they super-duper love you. Otherwise they'd never subject themselve...

Yesterday I was feeling sorry for myself dealing with the 4th migraine of the week. So to console myself I made something just for me.

I made a bunch of these for friends years ago, but the only one I kept for myself was a wonky prototype stuffed with batting.

This one is the real deal, crocheted around a baseball. Very satisfying to throw. I would imagine...
