06/22/2023
This was a great accomplishment & achievement for the Autistic Art Coalition of Philadelphia. Ironically on 6/2/22 was the first word-of-mouth (with color flyers in hand with supporter/partners Logo’s on them) via our Founder Colleen R. Ott, at Lincoln Financial Field during the Neurodiversity Employment Network was able to speak at the podium about the that day too. We started because of “the pandemic” when Colleen got word that individuals were being bullied, so in June of 2022 the first flyer read, “What have you been working on during the Pandemic from March 2020 to current date. We wish to see what Autistic, Neurodivergent & Intellectual disABILITY Individual Artists have been working on.” Why, because Art helps to get through, as well as heal us. Art is the unspoken language, sometimes it is a spoken language. ALL individuals are capable of making art no mater if sighted, non-sighted, deaf, etc Individuals can make art. Let’s Come Together as we Come together from after a Pandemic.
This was a Journey from meeting in the beginning at Mural Arts Philadelphia’s The Tacony LAB Community Arts Center down the street from the Alma Mater St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls of our Founder.
Fortunate to have the Shana Pistilli CEO/Founder of Ruberto School of Music from Media, PA., and former student Tom Bak, preform after the speakers segment. As well as Philadelphia’s Beloved Jane Golden CEO/ Founder of Mural Arts Philadelphia. Also Barbara Baur of the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center. The Tacony Community Development Corporation had a major hand in supporting the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center Host the First Annual Art Exhibition. A special Thanks goes out to our fellow board members too… Founder & Executive Director Colleen R.
