Thank you all for a great Season 10! This season, Jasper Chamber Concerts commissioned and premiered 4 new string quartets, presented 4 evening concerts and performed several concert-conversation programs in the School District of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Athenauem through its Community Connections program. Congratulations to our 3rd Annual Christine Kim Award Winner, Samuel Cao, pictured below with the Jasper String Quartet!

Congratulations to Samuel Cao, winner of the 2026 Christine Kim Young Artist Award! A student of Gloria dePasquale, Samuel is the Principal Cellist of Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, a PMAY Artist, and a member of the Advanced Study Chamber Music Program at Settlement Music School.

Samuel will perform Andrea Casarrubios’ Armadura at the Jasper Chamber Concerts Season Finale on April 16, 2026 at 7:30pm at Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting.

Applications for the 2026 Christine Kim Young Artist Award are now open!

Established in 2024 by Jasper Chamber Concerts, the Christine Kim Young Artist Award is an annual award given to a young string player or string chamber ensemble displaying extraordinary artistry performing an 8-15 minute work written after 1980. The winner receives a prize of $500 and an invitation to perform on the Jasper Chamber Concerts Series Finale on April 16, 2026. Join the Jasper String Quartet on Thursday, December 11 at 7:30 at Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting for an evening you won’t want to miss—featuring the East Coast Premiere of Patrick Castillo’s Libera me.

About the program: Four composers spanning four centuries explore the luminous possibilities of the string quartet. The heart of the program features George Walker’s famously stunning Lyric and a newly commissioned work by Patrick Castillo, whose music is lauded as “brimming with a variety of texture and sound that draw you into its world” (I Care If You Listen). Beloved works by Josef Haydn and Claude Debussy bookend this radiant program.
