Date: Saturday, April 18th (4/18/2026)
Time: 11am-2pm
Location: 1170 S. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19146 (Mascher Space Cooperative/Headlong Dance Theater)
Cost: $30-$60 Sliding Scale (please place yourself appropriately, there are no questions asked)

Accessibility: There are a few steps to enter the building, the restrooms are down a flight of stairs. This workshop will not require masking or rapid testing. If you have any questions about access, please reach out to [email protected]

About the workshop:
"Here are some elements to be considered: accessing the well of movement possibilities at our disposal; articulating our subsequent choices with ever-increasing ease, depth, subtlety, and fullness; nurturing a fluid capacity for change, including the mobility of weight; paying attention as we engage structures toward developing a greater sensitivity within ourselves and to each other; fostering a more acute awareness of the space we’re dancing in and enlivening; and cultivating a more open and sturdy conduit between our inner sense and what’s out in front of us, as we proceed forward.

That’s a lot, but there is crossover. The point is to ride the music of the body in motion—with art, craft, curiosity, and joy—so as to wholly encounter wherever we find ourselves, alone and together. Especially now...let’s ask/entertain questions and see what we find!"

I’m workshopping my practice MOUTH ROT.

I think this class is a moment for me to remember my Fringe solo last year and then to share the practice with others.
It was liberating for me to practice MOUTH ROT and my introduction to finding out about my Tourettes diagnosis. LOL! If you saw the solo, I’m sure this will not come as a surprise. I want to share my findings

So here’s a sorta description of my ideas of what I think will be this workshop:
MOUTH ROT is a dance practice by Micah Lat or Rot about being, becoming, listening, and responding live time. It is a moment to unleash all that comes with being “touched” by sound, light, and our neighbor. To see, To be seen, and to feel that, and then act! To respond. This is an opportunity to be honest and absurd. This class will explore these themes and hopes to invite and oozing of radical honesty and to go “oh wait, what just happened”.

Next SHAKE is Monday March 17! and we started a Philly Shake newsletter to (infrequently) let you know about our events and share the playlists. Message us ( and ) if you want to join.

SHAKING is a movement for all bodies that can be used to regulate your nervous system. There is no wrong way to SHAKE! Anyone can SHAKE! (Our cells are in fact shaking all the time). The practice begins with an opening circle, then one hour of continuous shaking to music with an emphasis on what feels good for your body, and ends with a few minutes of rest.

We’ll keep gathering, keep listening to our bodies, keep shaking things up literally. There’s so much chaos, so much agitation, our bodies are responding, whether or not we’re aware of it in the moment. Let’s do the agitating on our terms.

Wear comfortable layers, and drink plenty of water! Please stay home if you are sick. We will provide rapid tests. Masks optional.

Accessibility Info: There are three stairs to enter Headlong Studios (1107 Broad Street). Bathrooms are at the basement level down a flight of stairs. Nearest BSL stop is Ellsworth.

Hello friends!

Leigh and Xander will be facilitating a monthly durational collective SHAKE on the third Monday of the month at Headlong Studios (1170 S Broad St).

Next shake is coming up this Monday, the 17th !

We will SHAKE to music together for an hour, with an emphasis on what feels good for your body.

SHAKING is a movement for all bodies that can be used to regulate your nervous system. There is no wrong way to SHAKE! Anyone can SHAKE! (Our cells are in fact shaking all the time). At the end of the SHAKE we will often spend a few minutes in stillness and silence to settle.

Members of the Dancers for Palestine Lead Organizing Team will share our organizing strategy, successes and challenges in organizing the dance field, and the role of arts and culture in the movement for Palestinian Liberation. We will talk about our attempts to move the dance field into more significant, material solidarity with Palestine through the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI). We will address the dance field’s specific histories and dynamics when it comes to organizing, as well as what dance can teach us about organizing within any discipline or community. We’ll answer questions and brainstorm with attendees about their specific struggles and curiosities, including Philadelphia-specific organizing tactics and potential targets for PACBI campaigns.
