"I find joy in painting. This joy stems from both the physical act of creating and the visual exploration of color, dynamic composition, layering, and biomorphic abstraction. Working primarily in water-based media, I start with visual notations that evolve organically through play and experimentation. I often make small collages and paintings on paper to generate new combinations of color and shape alongside making larger paintings. This process-driven, intuitive approach yields surprising visual amalgamations. Inspiring this work are quilts, microscopic forms, gardens, architecture, music, and dance. Lyrical gestures and anthropomorphic shapes emerge as I paint, resulting in works that feel animated, musical, and emotionally resonant."

Come to Bridgette Mayer Gallery to check out in person Erin McIntosh's works! We are so excited to share with our community New Talents: Six Rising Painters in Abstraction & Landscape!

We're open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm; Tuesdays by appointment.

In Angela Warren's creative process, nature must be primarily experienced through the body before the composition comes to the surface. Sensorial elements such as pressure, movement, and touch are organized in her paintings through a play between light, color and patterns.

In her words,
"Familiar subjects like wildflowers and landscapes give viewers an immediate connection, while the layered, more abstract passages reflect the internal responses that nature stirs in me. I’m not painting flowers as objects; I’m painting the moment of aliveness they create, the way a brief glimpse of color or light can expand something inside you."

When you visit our venue to check out New Talent: Six Rising Painters in Abstraction and Landscape, we invite you to consider Warren's works through the feelings, experiences, and memories she evokes with her abstract compositions.

We're open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Tuesdays by appointment only.

Kirby Fredendall approaches landscape as both a lived environment and a site shaped by memory. Innovatively working on acid-washed tin, she draws from elements encountered in nature, which she then recontextualizes and reimagines through color, light, and surface.

Rather than reproducing a specific view, Fredendall builds landscapes that move between recognition and abstraction. Bodies of water, reflected light, and submerged forms often overlap within the same composition, creating shifting perspectives between depth and surface.

The viewer may read the image as a distant vista one moment and, in the next, become absorbed in the movement of color and light across the painting itself.

This tension between the lived and the remembered is central to Fredendall’s practice. Her landscapes retain the familiarity of the natural world while opening space for a more subjective experience of place.

Mary Zeran approaches abstraction through process, movement, and fluidity. Painting on transparent polyester film with fluid acrylics, Zeran allows pigment to slide, pool, and interact unpredictably across the surface. Though rooted in spontaneity, her process demands careful control and repeated layering to achieve balance and tension within each composition. Color plays a central role in the work, generating atmosphere, emotional resonance, and movement. Inspired initially by the textile tradition of Shibori, Zeran’s paintings move beyond fabric as material to explore fabric as concept—responsive, layered, and continuously evolving.

In her artist's statement, she develops that
"While I initially approached Shibori as a tribute to my mother, I found its structure too prescriptive. I became more interested in the behavior of paint when it remains fluid, responsive, and in motion. This shift marked a departure from controlled pattern-making toward a practice rooted in instability, variation, and emergence."

Do not miss the opportunity to take a closer look at Zeran's paintings in our new show. New Talent: Six Rising Painters in Abstraction & Landscape just opened to the public, and we are so excited to finally share the work of extraordinary women artists across the U.S.

We're open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 5pm; Tuesdays by appointment.

Looking forward to have you here!
