In a world that favors product over process, sometimes we forget why being creative and trying new things is important.
As a recent newsletter pointed out, “experiencing art and creativity, even for a few minutes a day, has tangible effects on our mental and physical health. And you don’t have to be good at any of these things to reap the health benefits…All you have to do is take part.”
Exploring new modes of creativity, as a creator or audience member, can help us stay engaged and emotionally regulated at a time when so much external chaos can have us feeling anxious, helpless, or enraged.
The Creativity Collective and Going Acoustic at Quig’s are coming together to encourage anyone seeing this to try something new today, taking inspiration from the upcoming NEW THINGS NIGHT taking place at Quig’s Pub, NEXT MONDAY March 23rd. If you are in the Philly area, write something new: a new song, poem, or any creative work, and show it at Going Acoustic at Quig’s next Open Mic.
