Announcing the cast of Study Hall: Comedy Inspired By Lectures! This is an awesome group and we're looking so forward to seeing them play together. Right now they're cramming with coaches to prepare for their Fall shows. If you want to lecture in those shows- see the post for details. Themes include: Halloween, Politics, and Holidays.

Big thanks to all who auditioned. We wish we had more shows and opportunities to showcase all you brought to auditions. Thanks to those who helped with casting, to Sam Miller for jumping into do some early work with the cast, to Max Sittenfield who will be taking over next week, and to all our future lecturers. Speaking of which - now we're cramming to fill some slots.

Get ready to scream... with laughter! Now in its 8th year, the killer cast of Not Yet Rated returns from the dead with their annual Halloween hit - An Improvised Horror Comedy! This sidesplittingly funny improvised show takes all your favorite horror movie tropes and turns them upside down and inside out to create an experience that’s more fun than fright. From clueless teenagers stumbling into trouble to bumbling monsters with more bark than bite to grumbling spirits possessing children’s toys … No horror cliché is safe from their comedic chaos.

This is a completely improvised show and may feature adult themes and language. Most shows hover around a PG-13 rating, but parental discretion is advised.

Study Hall: Comedy Inspired by Lectures invites guest experts from a wide variety of fields to come and educate the audience and cast on a topic. After each lecture the cast uses what they learned to inspire the improv. The result is a show that is always educational, always entertaining, and never the same twice!

FIVE SPOTS LEFT! In this beginner class, each student will become acquainted with their own unique comedic spark. Through group games, embodied exploration, and physical play, each student will discover their inherent comedy, with an emphasis on contact, presence, breath, and listening through a physical form. Students will come away from the class with increased confidence as performers, a greater capacity to sense what is funny to an audience, and a honed internal gauge of what brings them pleasure on stage.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Marisol Rosa-Shapiro is a Philly and New York based theater artist, educator, clown, and facilitator of performance-fueled spaces for people of all ages. Her acting, directing, writing, and devising work have appeared in NYC, Philadelphia, Seattle, Boston, Miami, Maine, Colorado, Alaska, Texas, Italy, and Mexico.  Marisol has served as a teaching artist for more than a dozen theaters and arts education organizations across the country and around the world, including NYC’s long-running Clown Gym.  She trained for three years at Giovanni Fusetti’s Helikos International School of Theater Creation in Florence, Italy where she studied the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq, including mask, mime, clown, commedia dell’arte, and ensemble devising.  In recent years, Marisol has performed with Philadelphia Theatre Company, Shakespeare in Clark Park, Theatre Horizon, and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, directed for New Brunswick’s coLAB Arts, and created, directed, performed in, and produced  several curated shows in the Philadelphia Fringe and Cannonball Festivals. She is an advisory board member for Philadelphia’s own Cannonball Festival, and a member of the board of directors of Clowns Without Borders USA, which brings relief through laughter to sites of natural and human-made disaster across the globe.

🎤ABOUT JOSH
Josh Kosh is a Philly based Stand-up comedian and actor. He has had the honor of performing with the likes of Marlon Wayans, Tony Roberts, and Tony Rock among others. He was the First Runner Up in the 2021 “Philly’s Phunniest” contest at Helium Comedy Club Philadelphia. Joshua is also an Actor with multiple stage and screen performances. Josh has appeared on FOX Network, Hulu, and Amazon.

🗣️ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Éibhleann Clyne is an improviser, actor, singer, and writer who has been performing in Philly since 2018. She has a Bachelor’s degree in musical theatre from Rowan University, and has studied improv at Second City, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Magnet Theatre and Philly Improv Theatre. She has been performing musical improv with Thank You, Places since 2020, and continues to perform monthly with the group at Tavern on Camac.

Michael Raab is a Philadelphia Based Pianist and Singer. He majored in Jazz Piano at Indiana University. In addition to being an accompanist for Crossroads Comedy Theater Musical Improv classes, Michael accompanies musical improv troupes Thank You Places and The Good Kids.
